CBC Youth Sculling Skills

Each summer, Cambridge Boat Club hosts a series of two-week junior sculling programs to introduce high school boys and girls to the fundamentals and joys of sculling. This is a non-competitive program for both experienced rowers and true novices and is open to the children of both CBC members and non-members. Emphasis is on safety, proper boat handling, the development of a smooth and efficient stroke, the elements of good physical conditioning and teamwork.

Students begin sculling in stable, learn-to-row shells and are encouraged to move up in boat class as their skills develop. By the end of each 2-week at the end of the session, they will have the opportunity to row the complete 3-mile Head of the Charles race course.

Applicants may apply for up to 2 Sessions. Please note, morning sessions are intended for those athletes with little to no sculling experience. Afternoon sessions are intended for athletes who have completed at least one LTS session or who are otherwise comfortable sculling in a single.

Please email youthscullingskills@cambridge-boat-club.org with any questions.
