Becoming a Member

Cambridge Boat Club offers its members a wide range of rowing activities, a vibrant community, and a range of events, all in a beautiful location.CBC operates twelve months a year and is entirely volunteer-driven. We rely on our members to contribute their time and talent to support the club’s maintenance and program planning. Volunteering is also an important part of the application process. Thanks to our many active club committees and events, we have a considerable range of volunteer activities to choose from, especially during the rowing season.

If you are interested in membership but do not know any current club members, please contact the Membership Committee at membership@cambridge-boat-club.org. A member of the Membership Committee will meet with you and facilitate introduction to potential sponsors who can then guide you through the application process.

Cambridge Boat Club does not discriminate against any person’s application for membership, election to office within the Club, or any activity under the control of or sponsored by the Club on account of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, or physical limitations.

Applying for Membership

Applying to CBC is a formal process. You will need to have two members propose you for membership. Your sponsors will lead you through each stage of the application process. This includes accompanying you to volunteer activities, introducing you to membership committee members, and scheduling your interviews. The application process generally takes two months to complete. Because we cap the number of members, accepted candidates may be put on a waiting list until a space opens up.If you have questions about the application process, please have one of your sponsors contact the chair of the Membership Committee.
